When speaking you have to command the room.
This even works when speaking to your boss.
Project and authoritative voice and look comfortable not weak nor strong but comfortable.

I think a good speaker is someone who has some idea of the audience demographic, someone who doesn't appear to be trying too hard which goes along with your suggestion of being comfortable....this helps put the audience at ease. I think what you might mean when you say speak with an authoritative voice is to "speak with confidence." In order to be confident you must be consciously informed & armed with information that's useful to your audience. It's one thing to be a good speaker or a speaker with stage presence, but if you don't have some useful information for me, then you've lost me from the very beginning. While I think a speaker should present his/herself in the best light possible, a good speaker may be more concerned about providing his audience with valid & valuable information and not so much concerned with how he/she will appear.
